Description of materials
The successful integration of ICT into the learning environment
will depend on the ability of teachers to structure the learning in new ways,
to merge technology appropriately with pedagogy, develop socially active
classrooms, and encourage the students in cooperative interaction and
collaborative learning. I have chosen a PowerPoint as a main ICT tool
which engages students in their work and it improves student’s memory
retention where they can be able to keep information for the period of time.
How should I use the materials?
I have chosen the topic ‘Four type seasons’ for class two from the
English subject. I have prepared a PowerPoint presentation as the main tool to
teach this topic. I prepared this presentation with the aimed that
students will be able to use complete sentence to talk to a partner and write
about weather patterns found in the different seasons. This presentation can be
used throughout the lesson (introduction, lesson development and lesson closure).
To introduce the topic, I will use picture cards which represent different
seasons and make children guess from the pictures. To further enhance
understanding of the topic, I will explain in details using variety of pictures
related to seasons. In the lesson closure, through interactive session I will check
the students’ understanding of the lesson by asking questions and let them do
an activity. In a way they can summarize the whole lesson while answering the
questions.
Creation of the materials
“Teaching materials” is a
term used to describe the resources that teacher use to deliver instruction
ideally, the teaching materials will be tailored to the content. I have used
PowerPoint presentation as the main source to develop the four seasons by using
the effects of PowerPoint presentation and the resources available in the
internet such as pictures, graphics which can give us perfect ideas and the
concepts of four seasons. After making use of this PowerPoint presentation can
enhance the teaching sessions by providing a roadmap, reinforcing what we teach
and allowing us to use graphics and other multimedia to clarify understanding
and to support different learning styles.
Teaching learning materials
are significantly increase students achievement by supporting students
learning. The reason that I chose to teach season through PowerPoint is that it
makes students to understand the content in better way by looking at pictures
and graphics which I have inserted in the form of animation. In my presentation
I have used different scenarios depending on the names of the season with the
explanation.
